Planting a Garden for the Fae Folk-

You know how much fairies loves flowers, butterflies and dragonflies.  Well, with it now being springtime and the weather is getting to a point where it is safe to begin planting.  I think it would be great if we could do a little planting party.

Now one of the very first things:  What happens if you want to have a garden but you just do not have any space?  Oh, little fae that is never, ever a problem, ever!!  If you have a door, window or a porch you have enough space to plant something.

Now, my human is a “seed” junkie *giggles* no joking!!  She collects seeds and saves them and when she goes to the store and finds ten cents packages of seeds she will buy at least a couple of dollars worth each time.  Always try to use a good potting soil; my human usually has to get lots of big bags because she grows veggies too.  Plus you know sometimes how much Humans waste when are preparing salads, in another project we will talk about making compost and that can be done in small area containers...yep, it’s true.  My human has some she made.  But for here and now let’s just start with a regular bag of potting soil.

Always remember to save your planting pots from previous years and if you are brand new to this, you can find some real inexpensive pots at thrift stores and discount stores **giggles** my human does that too all of the time.  Let’s just start with three kinds of flowers for today.  We Fae love all flowers but three we REALLY love is: Viola’s, Foxglove and Daisies!!

Start by filling your pots with a few dry leaves from the yard oh, I would say perhaps put enough leaves in your pot to fill it half way.  Then, jump up and down on the leaves to smash them down into the pot **giggles**.  Okay fill the pot almost to the top with the potting soil.  Now, depending on how big your pot is, sprinkle a few seeds on top-be sure they are spread out evenly and not clumped together **giggles**  Okay, once that is done, sprinkle some more potting soil over the top of the seeds and very gently path down the soil.  This is real important okay… try and make sure your human has a regular watering can that looks like it showers when the water comes out of the spout, because now you have to water the seeds.  Until the little plants begin to poke their heads up out of the soil, you will want to make sure they have a nice drink of water every day.

The Violas will take about 10-20 days to germinate.

**giggles** that just means before they stick their little heads up out of the soil.

The Daisies will take 15-21 days to germinate

The Foxglove will take about 7-14 days to germinate.

Once your little plants begin to grow, you will have to nurture them and feed them a little plant food at least once a week.  During the very hot days they will drink more water than other days, you will just have to feel the soil and when it feels dry you know they need watering.

One of the most beautiful things in the world is watching something you grew from seed bloom into beautiful flowers.  It never hurts to ask Mother Nature if she could help protect your new plants.  I believe once they start getting stronger, you will grow to really love them, especially when you see our cousins the butterflies and dragonflies visiting them.

I will have my human take pictures of her plants when she plants them and we can watch them grow together too…**giggles** it will be so much fun!!

Magickal Properties of the Flowers:

Daisy:  Love

Foxglove:  Protection

Violas:  Protection, luck, love, wishes, peace and healing
