Recipe #2
A yummy breakfast treat that makes your tummy sing!!
Strawberry French Biscuits
1- Cup all purpose flour
2-Tablespoons of powdered buttermilk
2-teaspoons of no sodium baking powder
2-Tablespoons of canola oil
Water
Mix everything together making sure your dough is not too wet and sticky. Dust your surface with some flour and roll out your dough so it is about ½ inch thick. Cut out your biscuits and bake on 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. This makes 5 to 6 biscuits depending on big your biscuit cutter is. (Hint: I use a can that I washed that has a white inside. I choose this can because I like the size of the biscuit it makes; afterwards I wash it and can reuse it for as long as I want too. So I get 5 nice size biscuits from the above ingredients.)
While the biscuits are cooking mix together:
1- Whole egg
1-egg white
2-Tablespoons of low-fat milk
1-teaspoon of vanilla or almond extract
½ teaspoon of cinnamon (or more if you would like)
Whisk together and set aside. Slice as many strawberries as you would like.
When you take the biscuits out of the oven, cut in half and let them the pieces soak in the egg mixture for a few minutes then fry in a pan that has been lightly sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray.
Place strawberries on top of the fried biscuits and drizzle lightly with maple syrup. Oh, yummy for the tummy!!
